Questions
Why Volunteer?
We are a not-for-profit organization that is powered by volunteers. Our Board of Directors and extended volunteer team work collaboratively to further the organization’s mission.
By volunteering with us, you’ll be making a tangible impact and joining an incredible community of women and gender-diverse people working to advance gender equity in their respective communities.
What skills do I need?
There are no required skills to become a volunteer with us. Your existing life experiences, ideas, and areas of interest are more than enough to get you started on the team.
Volunteering is a great way to develop new skills and refine existing ones, and explore a range of topics or areas of focus that you may be curious to learn more about.
How can I help?
We can use additional volunteer capacity to help manage our current operations, including administrative, governance, communications, policies, finances, and more. We would also welcome help in expanding our activities, such as research, programming, advocacy, content, media, and resource development.
Volunteering
There are two ways to volunteer with us—as a member of the Board of Directors or as a task-based volunteer.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the designated volunteer committee that governs the affairs and business of the organization. Terms are two years and Directors can be re-elected for three successive terms. Directors are expected to attend a monthly meeting, participate on sub-committees, and fulfill an Officer or other designated role with associated responsibilities.
Volunteers
Task-based volunteers are recruited based on organization needs and volunteer skills/areas of interest. Volunteer roles may be recurring or fixed.
Selection Process
All applications are thoroughly reviewed and candidate information is coded into a screening matrix that ways various factors related to experience, areas of expertise, skills, location, demographics, etc. Top candidates are identified by the Governance Sub-Committee and recommended to the Board. Select candidates will be called for an informal interview and the recommended candidate will be subject to a vote by the Board and the Members.
