Workshop on September 16: WiUC Blog Writing Best Practices

What does it take to build cities that truly work for everyone? Around the world, women leaders have been answering that question not in theory, but through action: reclaiming streets, reimagining mobility, and reshaping public spaces so they’re safer, more inclusive, and more resilient. These are the everyday acts of courage and creativity that change how cities breathe and belong. Yet too often, these stories remain untold.

This September, Women in Urbanism Canada (WiUC) invites members, volunteers, and anyone interested in feminist urbanism to get creative in the art of storytelling and centre the lived experiences of women and gender-diverse people in cities that weren’t designed with them in mind. On September 16, WiUC is hosting a free session on best practices for writing blogs and longform content that explore topics of gender equity and urbanism.

This is more than just a workshop. It’s a chance to give back to our community, sharing what we’ve learned over the years writing about gender inequity in urban spaces built predominantly for and by men.

Whether you’re a planner, researcher, urban designer, advocate, or a student, we hope you’ll leave inspired and equipped with new resources to write about these issues and shape your impact within your community. Join us to reflect, and connect through storytelling that translates into real-world policies, decisions, and cities that work for everyone.
